WASHINGTON D.C. – The Coalition for the American Dream, which comprises more than 100 of the nation’s top businesses and trade associations representing every major sector of the economy and millions of U.S. workers, today released the following statement on reports of DACA recipients being deported:

“The Coalition for the American Dream is deeply concerned by reports that as many as 80 DACA recipients have been detained and deported. President Trump has said publicly that DACA recipients should feel safe in the United States. Immigration enforcement practices must be consistent with that message and with the longstanding expectation that DACA provides stability for individuals who have lived, worked, and built families here.

“Removing DACA recipients from their homes and jobs separates families, disrupts employers, hurts the economy, and creates fear and uncertainty in communities. It also undermines confidence in the immigration system.

“We urge the Administration to take steps to ensure that DACA recipients are not improperly targeted for deportation and to provide the clarity and stability our communities and economy need.”
