Statement from the Coalition for the American Dream on the Reintroduction of the Dream Act

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Coalition for the American Dream, which comprises more than 100 of the nation’s top businesses and trade associations representing every major sector of the economy and millions of U.S. workers, today released the following statement on the reintroduction of the bipartisan Dream Act:
“The reintroduction of the Dream Act is a critical step toward providing long-overdue stability for Dreamers and the employers who rely on them. Dreamers are integral to our workforce. They fill essential jobs in health care, education, STEM, construction, and other sectors that keep our economy strong.
“Without a permanent solution, businesses face growing uncertainty. Losing this talent would create costly disruptions that communities and employers cannot afford. In addition, Dreamers contribute billions in taxes each year and support the consumer spending that strengthens local economies.
“We thank Senators Durbin and Murkowski for their continued leadership and urge Congress to move quickly toward a permanent bipartisan solution. Passing the Dream Act would protect hundreds of thousands of workers, strengthen the American economy, and provide the stability these individuals and their families have earned.”
