WASHINGTON D.C. – The Coalition for the American Dream (C4AD), which represents more than 100 of the nation’s top businesses and trade associations across every major sector of the economy, today released the following statement on the 14th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, established on June 15, 2012:
“For 14 years, DACA has allowed young people who came to this country as children to live, work, and build lives in the only home most of them have ever known. DACA recipients are teachers, nurses, engineers, and small business owners. They are vital members of our communities and essential contributors to our economy.
“But today, Dreamers are less safe than at any point in recent memory. In 2025, there has been a 400% increase in processing time for DACA, resulting in skyrocketing reports of people losing their jobs and even being deported. Renewal delays are pushing recipients out of status through no fault of their own, and the legal landscape grows more uncertain by the month. These are not just data points; these are our employees, colleagues, and community members. We are all hurt when their lives are put at risk.
“This week, the Coalition sent a letter to Congressional leaders calling on them to pass legislation to protect Dreamers, particularly in light of the ongoing attacks on the program. Ending DACA would cost the American economy more than a trillion dollars in lost economic impact and disrupt businesses and communities in every corner of the country. 14 years in, the case for permanent protection has only grown stronger. Only Congress and the President can provide the certainty DACA recipients deserve and our economy needs. It is long past time to act.”
